About

Wavecom Technologies

Wavecom Technologies is a European hardware and software manufacturer with 25 years of experience in advanced communications engineering. Headquartered in Portugal and manufacturing in Europe, Wavecom designs, develops and assembles its own connectivity products, and writes the software that runs on them, from onboard operating systems to cloud management platforms.

That combination of in-house hardware and in-house software runs across everything Wavecom builds: connected bus and rail systems, IoT and smart city networks, and WHERE IS®, its real-time location system (RTLS) software for the factory floor. WHERE IS® is built for partners rather than sold direct. Wavecom provides the application layer that turns raw positioning into production insight, while its partners provide the location infrastructure underneath.

What we do

Adding Infrastructure-Free Positioning to WHERE IS®

Wavecom Technologies integrates Slamcore Aware into WHERE IS® to deliver accurate real-time positioning for manual vehicles such as forklifts, tuggers and order pickers, without installing fixed infrastructure across the facility.

WHERE IS® already turns location data into the things a plant manager actually cares about: where a batch is, how long it sat in a zone, which stage is causing the bottleneck. What it needs underneath is location data it can trust. Slamcore Aware provides that using visual inertial SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping), building its map from what the vehicle’s cameras see. There are no anchors, beacons or tags to install and maintain.

For Wavecom’s partners and their customers, this removes the biggest barrier to an RTLS deployment. Sites that ruled out real-time location because of the infrastructure cost, the installation downtime, or a layout that changes too often to keep anchors calibrated can now start with the vehicles themselves.

Together, Slamcore and Wavecom Technologies give manufacturers a faster route from “we should track this” to a working digital twin of the shop floor, one that scales with the fleet and adapts as the facility changes.
